I navigated through the Christian Universalist waters for several years and the arguments for CU (of the evangelical variety) would quote scripture and make assertions that were not easy to counter. They had answers for everything. In the end, I just couldn't accept it because the foundations shifted too much to be solid. This quote is an example of creating room for filling the "old beliefs" with one's own presuppositions and slants on various scriptures. There's nothing constructive about tearing down old beliefs unless you can first prove that belief wrong. The idea of eternal torment has its foundation in a few scriptures. The basis upon which the Christian Universalist tries to tear that down is his or her own view of what it means for God to be good. Beg the question first (while justifying it with quotes like this one by Hart) and then insinuate things like "Would God really do that if He were good?" to justify it. It's subtle, but I saw it more than once. What's scary is that it sounds remarkably like the serpent's "Did God really say?" that actually directly challenged the specific words of God. On that basis Satan questioned God's goodness. Now the insinuation of one's own idea of God's goodness is being used to question the words.

Speaking in tongues was a gift from God given to the apostles so that when they spoke IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE, all of the listeners heard it in THEIR NATIVE TONGUE. Speaking in tongues is not some wild gibberish. If you heard someone speaking in tongues, all you would hear is them speaking in your language. These are imposters who are children of Satan.

The Apostle Paul made it very clear that everything done in the house church (yes, not the huge buildings of our megachurches with huge screens and rock bands) was to be reverential, and point Christians to God, without a lot of noise, overly emotion, tongues speaking, prophecy, etc, and hymns of praise sung to God and to His Son in simplicity and reverential worship. Women were not to have the teaching authority over the men (Titus 1, 1 Timothy 1, but raise children in sobriety and the nuture of the Lord. Pastors and elders were to be married men, having their children well behaved, loving their wives, not getting drunk, being temperment and not loving money. Sounds like we are getting away from that command, to our eternal detriment!

We’ve all seen the type like the first lady. Three people tell them they’re powerful and anointed and they lose their minds. She had the classic signs. First? I spent the first 40 years of my life in these types of churches. They spazzed out and talked about revival almost nonstop. People would express themselves emotionally and go crazy in church but were completely unchanged by Monday. Repeat next Sunday, etc. There is no real push for discipleship or biblical literacy. Just experiential..

Yes! I’ve looked in on FreshStart services many times on RUclips. I’ve spent a good part of my life in Assemblies of God churches and have never seen anything like what is practiced at Fresh Start. Nonstop high energy yelling and speaking in something like tongues without any interpretation. It’s as if they are conditioning their congregation that using Gods power requires being loud and hyper-energetic.

She is exhausting and these days I can't bare to even listen to the "speaking in tongues" that they do. Its just a high octane performative business.
